The Los Nettos Consortium

Los Nettos is a regional network consortium that connects universities, research institutions, healthcare organizations, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations across Southern California.

Rather than operating as a traditional Internet service provider, Los Nettos provides the high-capacity transport, routing, and interconnection platform that allows its members to securely exchange data with one another, access commercial cloud providers, connect to national research networks, and reach the global Internet.

Our backbone is designed for workloads that extend well beyond everyday Internet access. Members use Los Nettos to support scientific research, advanced computing, cloud services, AI infrastructure, healthcare applications, and large-scale data movement. The network is engineered for high availability, diverse connectivity, and long-term growth while remaining community governed and member focused.

As a nonprofit consortium, Los Nettos invests directly into the infrastructure shared by its members. This allows the organization to build capabilities that would often be impractical or cost prohibitive for a single institution to deploy independently.

Today, Los Nettos operates a regional optical transport and routing backbone connecting major carrier hotels, cloud on-ramps, research networks, and institutional campuses throughout Southern California.
